There's the Woman, There's the Mother

After 10 years in the parenting game I can, unequivocally, without a doubt reassure everyone of my readers I DO NOT HAVE THE ANSWERS! On a day by day, molding this little human is a practice I try to perfect, always falling just a little bit short because in fact, there is no such thing as perfect and this child is his own, complete human self!

What I can share with you without pause is, to make him my entire world only shortchanges him in the end. I’ve learned to raise a man that will leave my lap and step into the world as close to whole as possible is to show him a Woman who went after her dreams with everything she’s got and filled her own tank so that she had all she needed to shower him with love and affection and the occasional new Lego set and vacation.

If I can impart anything to you friend, if you have a dream PLEASE don’t let being a Mother an excuse you use to find a way to avoid it. Go for it, with your whole being and let your little one see that, emulate that, and maybe one day, do exactly that!

When you step into this new, exciting role there’s the Mother and there’s the Woman, and both of them need you to show up!
